Introducing Leiken Reeds!
|
The Leiken reed story started in the Fall of 2013, when Erik started work on making a practice chanter reed that provided a quality sound in a variety of different practice chanters. He went though a number of designs until he created a design that worked in a number of different chanters without modifying the reed from chanter to chanter.
The Leiken practice chanter reed was born.

Each Leiken Reed is individually tested in a number of popular practice chanters to ensure their consistency and quality. Any reeds that does not work in all of the practice chanters that they're tested in will not leave the door.
There are a number of styles available. Readily-available styles are the standard original, sharp, and quiet. The standard original design is bright and hardy, and works well in nearly every chanter it has been played in. The sharp design is good for pipers with flatter chanters who want to bring the pitch up. The quiet design, while tuning like a normal reed, is much quieter for more discreet practice and takes very little air. Also available per request are flat reeds for very sharp chanters and custom-made reeds for chanters that are difficult to reed.
Upon completion, each reed is hand-signed by Erik, no reed is signed until it's has proven it's quality in various chanters.
